A Room with a View: Creative Writing in the bird hide

Join writer Victoria Leslie on a journey through the Avalon Marshes, foraging for inspiration before arriving at the Decoy Hide, where a series of creative writing activities will encourage you to reflect on the interconnection of nature and narrative. This workshop is part of the Hide & Seek Project, an initiative designed to uncover the stories of our wetlands, using bird hides as creative and reflective spaces as they are ideally situated for the study and contemplation of nature.
Schedule:
12.00 p.m. – 12.45 p.m. Guided creative walk through the Avalon Marshes, starting at the Avalon Marshes Visitor Centre
12.45 p.m. – 2.15 p.m. Workshopping in the Decoy Hide, before returning to the Avalon Marshes Visitor Centre
2.15 p.m. – 3 p.m. Refreshments at Marshes Hub Tea Shop and reflection

Victoria Leslie is the author of a short story collection Skein and Bone (Undertow Books) and a novel Bodies of Water (Salt Publishing) and is currently a writer with WetlandLIFE, an interdisciplinary project exploring the ecological, economic, social and cultural values associated with wetlands in England.
Please note timings are approximations. Waterproof clothing and good footwear are recommended. Please be advised there are no facilities in the vicinity of the Decoy Hide but rest breaks are scheduled back at the Avalon Marshes Visitor Centre.
